“Two Minutes With” is Weber Shandwick Seattle’s employee spotlight series that provides professional and personal insight into our rockstar team. Today we spotlight tech intern Kyle Vascovitz.
Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
I grew up in Seattle and went to school at Boston University. I lived there for the past four-and-a-half years, but have been visiting for over 20 years. At Boston University, I studied Communication and Advertising, with a business and sociology background. I’m an avid Sounders fan and have been going to games since they played in Memorial Stadium, and I’m a big Seahawks guy despite having lived in Boston. However, my brother is from Boston and is a Pats fan, which leads to great Sundays when we’re together. I just moved back to Seattle a few months ago and recently moved to Capitol Hill.
Three words that describe you are?
Enthusiastic, Energetic, Nerdy.
What was the first CD you purchased?
The first CD I purchased on my own was Jay-Z’s The Blueprint.
Why Weber Shandwick?
I had previously worked for two of Weber Shandwick’s clients, so when I decided to relocate back to the West Coast, Weber Shandwick stayed top of mind. After keeping in touch for a couple months, an intern position opened up with the technology and digital entertainment teams and I was able to apply and join the Weber team.
What are you looking forward to most during your internship?
I’m looking forward to working on the agency side of the PR world. I’ve worked a lot on the client side and in-house with a few Boston startups, which has given me some insight into the PR world, but I’m excited to learn the other half of the business. I’ve also worked mainly with startups with roughly 20 people or less, so I’m looking forward to joining a larger company with a global network and learning all I can from the experience.
When not working, what will people find you doing?
When I’m not working, I’m listening to music. I try and stay up-to-date on everything that’s coming out. I’m a big Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper, J. Cole, and Wale fan, along with a lot of DJs and some more random artists. But now that it’s fall, you’ll find me watching football every chance I get.
Beverage of choice?
Coffee!
